On October 19th, CUCS held an evening of gratitude and celebration that brought together 150 leaders in business, government, nonprofit and philanthropy. CUCS’ 2016 Champion Awards: Changing Lives Together cocktail reception was a celebration of the thousands of lives that have changed through our programs and services as well as a time to recognize some of our most dedicated supporters.
This year, we are thrilled to have had three special honorees: Stavros Niarchos Foundation, Humanitarian Champion; Commissioner Vicki Been, New York City Department of Housing Preservation and Development, Government Champion; and Jennifer McCool and Related Companies, Corporate Champion.
Roula Siklas accepted the Humanitarian Champion Award on behalf of Stavros Niarchos Foundation, adding, “CUCS’ work is of increasing importance, as it not only provides services to address these issues directly, but it supports, invisibly yet effectively, all its partner agencies in doing the same.”
Julie Sandorf, CUCS’ Board Chair, presented CUCS’ inaugural Government Champion Award to Vicki Been. “Vicki Been’s herculean efforts to advance affordable housing for all New Yorkers have made her an iconic force of economic justice in our city,” she said.
Related Companies, one of the largest housing developers in the world and a positive force for affordable housing in New York, represented by Chief Legal Officer and CUCS Board of Directors member Jennifer McCool, were recognized as Corporate Champion.
The evening was made possible by our wonderful sponsors, including Stavros Niarchos Foundation, Judith Golding and Robert Brager, The Magistro Family, Morgan Stanley, Richman Housing Resources, Lauren and Alex Rose, Julie Sandorf and Michael Weinberger, and Related Companies. Thank you to all sponsors, supporters and guests for making the event a tremendous success!
