Nearly 50% of New Yorkers do not have affordable housing, and 25% of New Yorkers pay at least half of their income toward rent. Each night, 35,000 New Yorkers sleep in shelters. Half of them are children. That's more than the average attendance at a Mets game. CUCS believes everyone has the right to safe and affordable housing. We work to ensure that at-risk groups have access to housing and, just as importantly, that they have the services and support they need to maintain housing and live fulfilling lives in their communities.
CUCS offers:
Permanent Housing - for low income, homeless and disabled individuals and families
Transitional Housing - for homeless people with mental illness
Extended Stay Residences - for adults preparing to move on to more independent living
