Central Harlem, East Harlem and Bronx Single Stops

The Central Harlem, East Harlem and Bronx Single Stops provide free, confidential assistance in the following areas:

 

  • Benefits Assistance - Using the online "Entitlements Calculator," Single Stop staff work with individuals and families to determine which benefits they are eligible for and then assist them in securing those that they are not already receiving
  • Legal Assistance - Single Stop has an attorney on-site to provide free legal advice and representation on a full range of legal matters, including: housing, benefits, immigration, etc.
  • Financial Counseling - Single Stop has staff on-site to assist individuals and families in developing budgets and resolving credit problems
  • Tax Assistance - Single Stop provides on-site screenings to determine eligibility for Earned Income Tax Credit (EITC), Child Tax Credit and School Tax Credit and provides referrals for free tax preparation
  • Short-term Counseling and Referral Services - Single Stop staff are available to provide short-term counseling and provide referrals for help addressing issues such as domestic violence, mental illness, substance use and other matters that are affecting the function of the individual or family.
