With the high cost of living in New York City, many low-income individuals and families struggle to make ends meet. For many of them, obtaining information is key to accessing resources that can enable them to move out of poverty and live a better life.
To provide a single point of information, CUCS operates Single Stop
Centers in Central Harlem, East Harlem, the Bronx and on Rikers Island. The service is available to any individual or family in need of assistance. Single Stop is funded by the Robin Hood Foundation and Single Stop USA and provides free, confidential assistance in the following areas:
- Benefits Assistance
- Legal Assistance
- Financial Counseling
- Tax Preparation
- Short-term Counseling and Referral Services
